If you started practicing meditation recently, how is your experience? Not good? Meditation is easy to learn, and the more you practice, the easier it gets. But You need tools that will help you spice up your meditation. If you don’t have the right tools then it might be boring and tiring.

Not all kinds of meditation need tools. If you are practicing the walking meditation in a quiet place, then you don’t need any, but if you are walking in a noise place, sure it’s your best bet, you will need something to help you deal with the noise.

  • A comfortable position. If you chose to sit, lie or stand, your comfortability is very important. Make sure you are in the correct posture to avoid muscle pain.
  • A quiet room. If you are at home, turn off the TV and the radio and close the door to your office. If other people are around, ask them to leave you alone. Meditation is easier to do in an environment which is quiet, so you can close your eyes and focus on your breath. But you can also meditate in a noisy place, if you can focus on your mind.
  • Comfortable clothing. Wear something loose, comfortable clothes, to ensure you breathe well and are relaxed.
  • A comfortable temperature. A room that’s too hot can be uncomfortable and distracting, and a room that’s too cold can make you feel sleepy. So ensure the temperature is moderate enough not to distract you.
  • A mantra: a word or phrase that reminds you to focus on your breath. Mantras are very helpful to prevent you from distractions, especially for newbies practicing meditation.

This is one of the important things to have. If you are going to be lying down flat or sitting on the floor, don’t do it on your mattress because you are going to fall fast asleep.

2. Meditation cushions


Sometime you might need to sit cross legged on the floor so the right cushioning is needed. If not, it becomes easy to be in an uncomfortable and improper posture. Also when you sit make sure your back is straight to enable you to breathe freely and prevent you from back pain.

3. Meditation chairs


If you are suffering from a long term back pain, it better to use an ergonomic chair while meditating. This will help to keep your back straight with less effort. You don’t have to lean on the back rest if you can consciously maintain a straight posture.

When sitting on a chair make sure your feet are flat on the floor and your knees bent at a 90-degree angle for comfortability.

4. A Pair of earplugs or noise cancelling earphones.


For the most of us that live in busy noisy cities, it is difficult to afford a quiet environment suitable for meditation. To have the best practice you need to stay away from the noise or….


Just use earplugs. You will find them distracting sometimes but they are much better than noisy environment.
